Compliment vs complement
- Hold On and Hold UP: Hold On means to grip or to wait, example: “Hold on the call, I will be back”, while Hold Up means to cause a delay ( to make it wait) or to hold something high, example: “They hold up the flight because a big storm”
- Compliment and Complement: Compliment means something nice that you say to someone else, while Complement means something that combines well with something else, example ” your dress is complement to your eyes.
- See a Movie and Watch a movie: See a movie refers to result “Have you seen Justin Bieber Believe Movie?”, while Watch a movie refers to process “I was watching movie last night”
- Assume and Presume: Assume refers to negative conotation, while presume refers to neutral conotation.
- Practise and Practice: Practise is a verb, example ” Syilvi, is practising her english” while practice is a noun, example “to speak English fluently, all you need to do is practice it”
